Neveron

"A once great game. And arguably the greatest online Classic BattleTech inspired game ever made. Sadly, and for a variety of reasons, it is but a pale shadow of its former self. I am a Faction Leader within the game's preeminent alliance: the Harbi"

Guild: Harbingers of Chaos

Age of Conan (PC)

"Just waiting for May 20th (Preordered CE). LotD FTW!"

Guild: Lords of the Dead

City of Heroes (PC)

"I played CoH for a very short time at launch, maybe 3 months or so. It was a good game, and I can see why so many people enjoyed (And continue to enjoy) it... just not my cup of tea. I guess the lootless gameplay just kind of seemed... off. To me. "

Dark Age of Camelot (PC)

"I briefly played DAoC when the first expansion (Shrouded Isles I believe) was released in Nov. 2002. I had fun with this game, and I could easily have been sucked in for the next few years, but RL events and a big move interrupted this."

Dungeons and Dragons Online (PC)

"I had high hopes for DDO, being an old school D&D player all the way back to 1st Ed. Unfortunately I found out that I too hated Eberron and that I didn't particularly enjoy other DDO players. I quickly moved on."

EVE: Online (PC-MAC)

"I actually beta'd Eve Online back in '03, and although I did not end up buying the game upon release I thought it was an interesting concept. I ended up playing briefly in '07 but I think its just too difficult to compete with long time players."

Everquest (PC)

"I have played EQ off and on since its release in '99. Although its gameplay is dated, and its graphics are nearly a decade old, at its heart its a great game that I think developers can still learn from. I have chars but don't actively play them."

Hellgate: London (PC)

"I bought the Collector's Edition and then played for about a week. This game was incredibly over-hyped and I'm incredibly glad I didn't buy into the founder's club like I had been planning."

Lord of the Rings Online (PC)

"I play infrequently and feel a bit guilty about it because LotRO is an excellent game and has an excellent post-release team. Sure it has issues, but its probably a game that will be around 5 years from now."

Server: Arkenstone

Guild: The Stoned Alliance

The Matrix Online (PC)

"What made this game the most disappointing to me was that it was given as a birthday gift and I felt guilty for not playing it after I realized how badly designed and unimaginative it was."

Metaplace (WEB)

"Metaplace sounds very interesting to me. As an amateur game & world designer (primarily text based) Raph Koster's project seems to have a great deal of promise."

Pirates of the Burning Sea (PC)

"What it does, it does well, but I'm not sure if its has the legs to go the distance. Its narrow focus may be a problem in the future. We'll see."

Server: Blackbeard

Ryzom (PC)

"This game was an enigma. It had great technical potential, especially after they allowed players to craft their own adventure scenarios. It just didn't "do it" for me, or most other people, as a cohesive package."

Shadow of Yserbius ()

"Oh Shadow of Yserbius, how I miss you! Pre-internet online RPG'ing at its finest. It was a component of The Sierra Network (later The ImagiNation Network). I have strong memories of these early glory days."

Shadowbane (PC-MAC)

"Though I only played SB for a short time due to RL reasons, I really enjoyed it and could have easily played for the next couple years if circumstances had allowed it."

Star Wars Galaxies (PC)

"An awesome game, until the death knell that was the NGE. I played mostly during its first year, and then off and on until 2005 when I stopped playing completely."

Tabula Rasa (PC)

"This game is so awesome and so crappy all at the same time. The combat was truly exciting and innovative, but the rest of the game... nearly forgotten. End game? Crafting? PVP? All missing. I quickly left."

Ultima Online (PC)

"I transitioned from the world of text based online gaming (MUDs & MUSHes) to graphical MMO's in '97 with UO. Few gaming experiences (revelations) before or since have come close. My style was primarily Solo, and yes I was ganked constantly (hehe)."

Vanguard: Saga of Heroes (PC)

"Complete. Utter. Crap. And I bought the CE, thinking it was going to be next gen awesome. Well in the end it was my wallet that was PWNED."

Warhammer Online: Age of Reckoning (PC)

"Eagerly awaiting this game. Already bought the CE so it's just a matter of time. =)"

World of Warcraft (PC-MAC)

"I played WoW from release day until late 2007 and I see it as really two games. WoW during the first year or two is the game I liked best. TBC pretty much invalidated everything that came before and that turned me off."

Server: Icecrown to Area 52

Characters:

Kato, Level 63 Human Paladin — No longer played.

World War II Online: Battleground Europe (PC)

"I played WWII Online when it was first released as Blitzkrieg. It was a mess, though this type of game has HUGE HUGE potential in my opinion. I left after a couple weeks in which I mostly just walked around."
